GBX1 and EN-2 have been mapped to chromosome 7q36. The present study shows that GBX2 was mapped to chromosome 2q37. EN-1 was mapped to chromosome 2q14. Moreover, two HOX complexes neighbored by the EVX gene, HOXA and HOXD, are located at chromosome 7p15-p14 and 2q31-q37, respectively. Thus, it is possible that these homeobox genes were linked to each other on an ancestral genome and that the ancestral chromosome segment was duplicated during evolution.</AbstractText>
<AuthorList CompleteYN="Y"><Author ValidYN="Y"><LastName>Matsui</LastName><ForeName>T</ForeName><Initials>T</Initials><AffiliationInfo><Affiliation>Institute for Comprehensive Medical Science, Fujita Health University, Aichi, Japan.</Affiliation></AffiliationInfo></Author><Author ValidYN="Y"><LastName>Hirai</LastName><ForeName>M</ForeName><Initials>M</Initials></Author><Author ValidYN="Y"><LastName>Hirano</LastName><ForeName>M</ForeName><Initials>M</Initials></Author><Author ValidYN="Y"><LastName>Kurosawa</LastName><ForeName>Y</ForeName><Initials>Y</Initials></Author></AuthorList><Language>eng</Language><DataBankList CompleteYN="Y"><DataBank><DataBankName>GENBANK</DataBankName><AccessionNumberList><AccessionNumber>U02080</AccessionNumber></AccessionNumberList></DataBank></DataBankList><PublicationTypeList><PublicationType UI="D016428">Journal Article</PublicationType><PublicationType UI="D013485">Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't</PublicationType></PublicationTypeList></Article><MedlineJournalInfo><Country>England</Country><MedlineTA>FEBS Lett</MedlineTA><NlmUniqueID>0155157</NlmUniqueID><ISSNLinking>0014-5793</ISSNLinking></MedlineJournalInfo><ChemicalList><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="D004268">DNA-Binding Proteins</NameOfSubstance></Chemical><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="C513076">EN1 protein, human</NameOfSubstance></Chemical><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="C084958">GBX2 protein, human</NameOfSubstance></Chemical><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="C513182">Gbx2 protein, mouse</NameOfSubstance></Chemical><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="D018398">Homeodomain Proteins</NameOfSubstance></Chemical><Chemical><RegistryNumber>0</RegistryNumber><NameOfSubstance UI="D011506">Proteins</NameOfSubstance></Chemical></ChemicalList><CitationSubset>IM</CitationSubset><GeneSymbolList><GeneSymbol>EN</GeneSymbol><GeneSymbol>EVX</GeneSymbol><GeneSymbol>GBX2</GeneSymbol><GeneSymbol>HOX</GeneSymbol></GeneSymbolList><MeshHeadingList><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D000595" MajorTopicYN="N">Amino Acid Sequence</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D001483" MajorTopicYN="N">Base Sequence</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D002874" MajorTopicYN="N">Chromosome Mapping</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D002889" MajorTopicYN="Y">Chromosomes, Human, Pair 2</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D002897" MajorTopicYN="Y">Chromosomes, Human, Pair 7</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D004268" MajorTopicYN="N">DNA-Binding Proteins</DescriptorName><QualifierName UI="Q000235" MajorTopicYN="N">genetics</QualifierName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D005801" MajorTopicYN="Y">Genes, Homeobox</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D018398" MajorTopicYN="Y">Homeodomain Proteins</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D006801" MajorTopicYN="N">Humans</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D008969" MajorTopicYN="N">Molecular Sequence Data</DescriptorName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D011506" MajorTopicYN="N">Proteins</DescriptorName><QualifierName UI="Q000235" MajorTopicYN="Y">genetics</QualifierName></MeshHeading><MeshHeading><DescriptorName UI="D017386" MajorTopicYN="N">Sequence Homology, Amino Acid</DescriptorName></MeshHeading></MeshHeadingList></MedlineCitation><PubmedData><History><PubMedPubDate PubStatus="pubmed"><Year>1993</Year><Month>12</Month><Day>20</Day></PubMedPubDate><PubMedPubDate PubStatus="medline"><Year>1993</Year><Month>12</Month><Day>20</Day><Hour>0</Hour><Minute>1</Minute></PubMedPubDate><PubMedPubDate PubStatus="entrez"><Year>1993</Year><Month>12</Month><Day>20</Day><Hour>0</Hour><Minute>0</Minute></PubMedPubDate></History><PublicationStatus>ppublish</PublicationStatus><ArticleIdList><ArticleId IdType="pubmed">7903253</ArticleId><ArticleId IdType="doi">10.1016/0014-5793(93)81620-f</ArticleId><ArticleId IdType="pii">0014-5793(93)81620-F</ArticleId></ArticleIdList></PubmedData></PubmedArticle></PubmedArticleSet>
