Data type of this property[edit]

  • The original short name property, Property:P743, was a plain string (not language-specific). It was deleted after discussions agreed that short names were generally specific to each language;
  • A second short name property, Property:P1813, using data type monolingual string (associated to a single language) is used as a replacement. However extra values (triplets) of that property are needed for each individual language;
  • Some users (that I support) proposed that this property should use multilingual string, so that a single instance of the property would maintain values for all languages. As of April 2015, such a datatype does not exist, though it appears in the Wikidata development plan.

Usage on properties[edit]

Thie property shouldn't be used on other properties. Properties don't have names. You can put the abbreviated labels in the aliases. Multichill (talk) 17:23, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
